GABY SILVA BAVIO

COMING SOON

JUNE 2025

Gaby Silva Bavio was born in La Plata, Argentina. Today, she lives and creates in two very different cities: La Plata and Chicago. Her art is inspired by everyday experiences, simple observations, and deeper emotional reflections. Feelings such as love and anger are captured in her work through strong, vibrant colors, expressive movements, and richly textured surfaces.

She creates a variety of textures using both organic materials—like sand and soil—and non-organic elements, such as newspaper for collage and other mixed media. Gaby enjoys exploring different interpretations of shape, color, and the reflections of light.

Recently, she has found inspiration in water and gelatinous substances—their movement, and the way light and color interact with the particles within them. She works on canvas with oil, but also on thick paper using acrylic, watercolor, and ink pigments. Fundamentally, she is an experimental artist. Her studio functions like a laboratory, where she mixes and tests various media and surfaces to achieve her desired effects.

Gaby often works in series, developing two or more bodies of work simultaneously. She has a passion for texture, materiality, and layering paint.

“I cannot live without painting—it is a part of my being, as essential to me as breathing.”
