Echoes of Yesterday
Echoes of Yesterday presents a curated selection of works reflecting on memory, time, and lived experience, offering a glimpse into the ways the past continues to shape the present. In this exhibition, you are invited to experience nostalgia through different and personal perspectives. Each work connects you to the past—sometimes through intimate memories, and sometimes through shared images and experiences you may recognize.
On view at the Art Ovation Hotel from May through November 2026, the exhibition is curated by Mara Torres González—founder of MARA Art Studio + Gallery and a participating artist in the show. It brings together artists from the gallery’s exclusive roster, representing a refined selection of professional voices whose practices span diverse media and perspectives.
The exhibition features works by Lori Childers, David Erdman, Elise Gold Sewall, Christina Jensen Vicente, Midge Johnson, Deena Marie King, Julia Rivera, Bruce Robertson, Judy Robertson, Juan Alonso Rodríguez, Gaby Silva Bavio, Marie Sostre Carmona, and Mara Torres González.
As you move through the exhibition, you encounter reminders of life: places, family moments, and everyday objects liketables, photographs, and keepsakes. Works such as Everyone is Welcome at Momma Jean’s Table, Fragmentos del Ayer, and Go Ahead. Pull Up a Chair. Always Room For One More reflect connection, tradition, and the importance of gathering. These spaces hold stories that are passed down and remembered over time.
Other works bring you back to childhood and early experiences. Pieces like Yellow Spinner, Bubble Wands, Bounce!, and Magdalena’s Memories capture moments of joy, movement, and discovery.

At the same time, works such as Circa 1984: Where It Began and Circa 1984: Refracted Beginnings invite reflection on beginnings—how early memories continue to shape who you are.
There is also a quieter, more reflective side of memory throughout the exhibition. Works like Fading Memories, Now Incomplete, and A Place Still Carries Every Story reveal how memory is not always clear or whole—it can feel layered, fragmented, and emotional. Through texture, color, and layering, many artists reflect how memories are built, erased, and formed again over time. In Hemispheres, the tension between soft and rigidforms speaks to this same idea—how contrast and coexistence shape experience, allowing difference itself to become a kind of expression.
Themes of place and history also emerge. Epochal - Oceanside and Remnants of a Walled City connect you to architectural and cultural memory, while Sentry suggests presence, protection, and the passage of time. In Lumiere, there is a sense of longing for a quieter, more intimate past, while Penance reflects how memory can also carry weight and complexity.
Some works feel deeply personal, while others remain open, allowing you to bring your own experiences into what you see. This creates a spacewhere different kinds of nostalgia can exist together.
Echoes of Yesterday is not only about looking back—it is about recognizing how the past stays with you. It lives in your memories, your feelings, and the way you see the world today.
