BETWEEN US

Between Us: An Intimate Conversation Across Dimensions is a duo exhibition by Bruce and Judy Robertson, whose work reflects an ongoing dialogue shaped by a shared life, curated by Mara Torres González.

Bringing together Bruce’s carved stone and wood sculptures with Judy’s abstract acrylic and mixed media paintings, the exhibition unfolds through deliberate pairings that emphasize relationship over isolation. Each work operates within a larger exchange—one that moves between surface and volume, gesture and mass, color and weight.

Judy’s paintings articulate space through layered fields, rhythm, and mark-making, while Bruce’s sculptures assert presence through form, tactility, and physical density. In proximity, their distinct practices converge into a shared visual language, where resonance emerges through both alignment and contrast.

Presented in conversation, these pairings reveal subtle correspondences: a curve carried across media, a tension between solidity and openness, a balance between movement and stillness. The works do not illustrate one another; instead, they respond—extending and completing ideas across dimensions.

At its core, Between Us considers proximity as a generative force—how meaning takes shape in the space between objects, materials, and two interconnected artistic voices. The exhibition invites viewers into this intimate field of exchange, where form and meaning emerge between works.
