2018 - SAN JUAN, PUERTO RICO

‘Miradas perdidas, desesperación, impotencia… Porque en un abrir y cerrar de ojos piensas que lo perdiste todo. Porque en las injusticias la perspectiva cambia.’ -MARA

‘Blank stares, despair, impotence… Because in the blink of an eye you think you lost everything. Because in injustice, perspectives change.’ -MARA

209 stands for September 20th, the day we woke up to a new perspective, a new reality. A year after, September 20, 2018 I had the 209 exhibit at La Concha Resort in San Juan, Puerto Rico. The collection captured different perspectives on the before/during/after of Hurricane María. I got inspired to start working on this collection by all the social/political controversy and injustice. The guests had an audio/visual experience through the exhibit thanks to the collaboration of Mute Party. They engaged and connected as they all were brought back to that day, filling the room with all sorts of emotions.
